Today we looked at friction-what it is and why it is important. We used blocks with different surfaces to see which created the most friction. We measured this in N using a Newton Metre. We made some great predictions and had a great time investigating!
Year 3 have been learning about magnets in Science today. We know that if you put 2 of the same pole together, the magnet will repel but if the poles are different they will attract.
We investigated which objects in the classroom were magnetic. We were surprised by some of the results.
This week in Year 1, we have been learning all about the human body! The children had great fun exploring the different parts of the body and learning their names. Year 3 have used oil pastels to create a winter scene. Take a look at their fabulous creations!
Today we looked at using yoga and breathing techniques to relax. We focused on our breathing, slowing it to calm down and then focused on the poses to ground ourselves-we were amazing!
In science today we looked at the relationship between surface area and water resistance. We made different plasticine shapes and found out the streamlined shape had the least water resistance acting upon it. We made links to last week’s lesson with air resistance and surface area too!
Year 5 had a competition between the 3 classes and Mrs Beresford’s won! The people who had played the most and earned the most points during the tournament got to go in and have some free time on the computers and some chocolate! Well done all of you!
Over the last two weeks our Year 1 children have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day and the symbol of the poppy. Together, we created beautiful poppy-shaped poems, describing the bright colours and the feelings we have when we see poppies. The children then walked to the Southwick Cenotaph to place our poem there and poppy wreaths to show our respect and
We had a great time today at Carnival House showing how we can move and travel and experimenting with light and shadows too!
