Year 4 love Health Week!

Year 4 have had a fantastic time during health week this week. We have enjoyed a range of different activities and learnt about how to keep our mind and bodies healthy. We really enjoyed circuits, completing the daily mile and practising our athletics! We loved trying some different fruits too, we found them very refreshing after working hard all day!


Year 4 learn about erosion

As part of our Geography lessons this term we have been leaming about erosion. We used soil and water to see the effects of erosion to our landscapes. We were fascinated to learn how much water can change our landscape.


Year 4 explore shipbuilding

In History this term we have been learning all about our local history of shipbuilding. We enjoyed having a visitor in school who worked on the shipyards and told us all about his experiences. Volunteer Week 2026

During Volunteer Week, our School Council led a special assembly to help everyone learn about the importance of volunteers and the amazing work they do in our community. After the assembly, we made thoughtful cards and small gifts to thank volunteers at the Salvation Army for their dedication and kindness. Year 4 explore Microbits

This term in computing we have been exploring Microbits. We have learnt they are tiny computers and that we can program using code to make pedometers, night lights and this week play rock, paper and scissors. We had lots of fun writing the code and transferring to the Microbit then seeing if you could beat the computer!


Year 4 learn about the shipyards

This week year 4 were lucky enough to have a talk with Miss Stronach’s Grandad, Billy, who used to work in the shipyards. He spoke about what his typical working day was like, how long it took to build a ship and how the ships were built. The children were extremely interested and asked a lot of fantastic questions!


Year 4 visit Ushaw College

We had a fantastic time at Ushaw College, we explored the chapel and the grounds. The children were fascinated with the beautiful stained glass windows, stunning buildings and the domed ceilings that carried sounds so well. Year 4 love Science!

To celebrate British Science Week Year 4 took part in an investigation to find out which material muffles sound the best. Year 4 enjoy Camp of Champions

We were lucky to enjoy a session with the Camp of Champions today for P.E. We enjoyed playing lots of different games with the volunteers from America. We were very excited to beat the Americans in the dodgeball challenge and can’t wait to play some of the new games we have learnt on the yard during playtime.


Year 4 World Book Day
