This term in computing we have been exploring Microbits. We have learnt they are tiny computers and that we can program using code to make pedometers, night lights and this week play rock, paper and scissors. We had lots of fun writing the code and transferring to the Microbit then seeing if you could beat the computer!
This week year 4 were lucky enough to have a talk with Miss Stronach’s Grandad, Billy, who used to work in the shipyards. He spoke about what his typical working day was like, how long it took to build a ship and how the ships were built. The children were extremely interested and asked a lot of fantastic questions!

We were lucky to enjoy a session with the Camp of Champions today for P.E. We enjoyed playing lots of different games with the volunteers from America. We were very excited to beat the Americans in the dodgeball challenge and can’t wait to play some of the new games we have learnt on the yard during playtime.

This week in Science we have been learning about how sounds can make different pitches, both high and low. We made our own pan flutes to see how sound travels through the different size straws and the different pitch of the sound. We found the longest straw had the lowest pitch and the shortest straw had the highest pitch.
