Year 5 went to the Centre For Life in Newcastle to explore all things science and see how science relates to our own lives. We went to the planitarium, a dino show, investigated circuits and renewable energies and had an amazing day full of awe, wonder and discovery!
Our wonderful Mini Police went to Newcastle to meet some fabulous four-legged officers! They got to meet the horses and learned about their important role within the force and saw how they are trasnported and where they live too-they had a great time!

Today we started looking at parts of a flower and their functions. We re learned the names and parts then we disected a daffodil to see the parts in real life-we were amazed!
Today, we began learning about light in Science. We learned about light sources and how darkness is the absence of any light. We investigated how much light we needed to be able to see. Our teacher hid items underneath a box and we had to look through small holes to see if we could identify the objects. We predicted how many holes we would need to put in the box before we would be able to see. It took 20 holes and we identified a wooden spoon and a red car.

Some of our year 5 children took part in a bowling competition today and had a brilliant time! They worked very well together as a team and enjoyed cheering each other on. A huge shout out to Benjamin who scored the highest number of points in the whole competition!
