Some of the children in Year 4 attended the Silksworth Sports Complex active festival this week. The children had a fantastic time learning some new skills along with other schools across Sunderland. The children played games such as dodgeball, practiced their archery skills and even tried out some cheerleading poses. A great morning had by all.

As part of our art topic this half term, the children have been looking at a variety of artists who create collage art work. Today, we created our very own collages in the style of Henri Matisse. This week we have been looking at our new story, The Gruffalo. We have made Gruffalo masks, role played as different characters from the book and created our own sentences. In maths, we have been learning about place value and have been counting, matching numbers with words and also finding one more and one less than a number.
We are learning to dance like they did in WW2 and we are loving it!
This week, Year 3 became geologists in our science lesson. We were sent a VERY important letter from Sunderland City Council asking us to test a variety of rocks for the new statue they are planning to build in the city centre. We tested if they were scratch proof, water proof and hard wearing. The children loved getting hands on and decided that granite would be the best option for the statue.
