Look what we’ve been up to

Year 5 Badminton with Redhouse Week 2…

We moved our learning on today by using the skills we had learned last week and introducing the nets. We also used hoops to improve our aim and accuracy

Year 5 and 6 Children in Need…

We had a great time today celebrating and raising money for Children in Need-we loved getting dressed up too!

Year 5 investigate air resistance…

This week’s science was looking at air resistance. We looked at Galileo’s experiment and what was proven all of those years ago. We then created our own parachutes, using a fair test, to investigate whether the surface area of a parachute had an effect on the time it took to fall-we were shocked by our results and had a great time!

Year 5 Odd Socks Day…

We put our odd socks on this morning for anti bullying week to show everyone is different!

Year 5 PE with Redhouse Academy…

Miss Bell from Redhouse is coming into school to work with us for the next few weeks. We are learning to play badminton and we were amazing today!

Year 1 – Exploring Autumn for Outdoor Learning Day

As part of Outdoor Learning Day, Year 1 embraced the season of autumn by becoming young explorers in our school grounds. Armed with clipboards and curious minds, we set out to collect data about the natural world around us — spotting colourful leaves, fallen seeds, and other signs of the changing season. Back in the classroom, we sorted and classified our findings into different groups before using Purple Mash on the

Year 3 – Outdoor Learning

Year 3 went outside and discovered how the school grounds have changed now that it is autumn. We looked at the different kinds of leaves and how they have changed colour, from green to orange, red, pink and brown. We examined the leaves and saw that the leaves have veins.
Rio Spencer explained that water moves up the veins to help the leaves grow.
Around the grounds different fruit and berries were found. Apples have fallen on the ground – we discussed how this is ‘windfall’ which we spoke about at the farm trip. Animals and birds have started eating the fallen fruit which will help them when they either hibernate or migrate to warmer climates.

Year 5 investigate mass and weight…

Today we looked at gravity and how it is measured. We chose a selection of objects and found their mass and weight using a Newton Metre. We also learned about Newton himself and his ground-breaking theories!

Year 5 Outdoor Learning…

Some of us in year 5 wrote autumn haikus after looking at autumnal objects and using our senses to describe them. Some of us did maths and made natural equations using autumnal objects to represent numbers in our number sentences. Our imagination went wild and we had a great time!

Year 5 investigate cams…

Today we looked at how different cams worked and experimented using different ones-it was a bit tricky but we were very resilient!
