Year 3 – Outdoor artists

Year 3 are still learning about collage and the artist we focused on this week was Andy Goldsworthy. Andy is known for creating collages using natural resources. We created our own natural collages using natural resources we found around the school grounds.

Year 5 Glockenspiels alongside Livin’ On A Prayer…

In music we have been learning to sing the Bon Jovi classic! We are so good at the singing we are now playing music alongside!

We looked at a range of materials and predicted whether they would be soluble and insoluble-we had a lot of fun testing our predictions too!


Year 3 – European Languages Day – Italy

Today, we celebrated European Languages Day and we focused on Italy. We all came in dressed in red, green and white to represent the flag. We learned lots of new facts about Italy, including, what continent it belongs to, the climate, famous landmarks and the types of food and drink they have there.

Next, we made our very own Venetian masks.  After dinner, we had an Italian food tasting session where we tasted pizza, mozzarella, olives and salami.  The children were very brave and tried foods they hadn’t tasted before.

Year 5 European Languages Day…

We looked at the reasons why learning languages is important and also how it is celebrated around the world-we then looked at greetings in 25 different languages and said hello to each other!


Year 5 at the Macmillan coffee morning…

Year 5 WW2 evidence…

We looked at photographic evidence of the effect of WW2 on Sunderland and were history detectives! We looked at pictures of bombing raids on the city and were shocked at the damage and destruction they caused!

Year 4 make bread like Anglo-Saxons

This term in History we are learning all about the Anglo-Saxons. We have been exploring what village life would have been like and discussing the types of food they would eat and how they would source their food. We learnt that the Anglo-Saxons made bread just using flour and water, we decided to try it and see whether we thought it was as nice

Year 4 – Active Festival

Some of the children in Year 4 attended the Silksworth Sports Complex active festival this week. The children had a fantastic time learning some new skills along with other schools across Sunderland. The children played games such as dodgeball, practiced their archery skills and even tried out some cheerleading poses. A great morning had by all.
