In science today we looked at the relationship between surface area and water resistance. We made different plasticine shapes and found out the streamlined shape had the least water resistance acting upon it. We made links to last week’s lesson with air resistance and surface area too!
Year 5 had a competition between the 3 classes and Mrs Beresford’s won! The people who had played the most and earned the most points during the tournament got to go in and have some free time on the computers and some chocolate! Well done all of you!
We had a great time today at Carnival House showing how we can move and travel and experimenting with light and shadows too!
This afternoon, Year 3 investigated friction. We set up a fair test investigation where we looked at what material would cause the most friction and slow the car down the most. We all made predictions before we started and we all had a different idea about which material would cause the most frictions. We set up a ramp and either covered it in sand, a towel, corrugated cardboard or didn’t cover it at all (wood). We found that the sand caused the most friction as the car hardly moved down the ramp at all.

We moved our learning on today by using the skills we had learned last week and introducing the nets. We also used hoops to improve our aim and accuracy
We had a great time today celebrating and raising money for Children in Need-we loved getting dressed up too!

This week’s science was looking at air resistance. We looked at Galileo’s experiment and what was proven all of those years ago. We then created our own parachutes, using a fair test, to investigate whether the surface area of a parachute had an effect on the time it took to fall-we were shocked by our results and had a great time!
We put our odd socks on this morning for anti bullying week to show everyone is different!
Miss Bell from Redhouse is coming into school to work with us for the next few weeks. We are learning to play badminton and we were amazing today!
