As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we held a ‘Wellbeing workshop’ where we invited our parents and carers along to take part in a variety of craft activities and to play some games with us. We hope it helped to calm and settle everyone’s minds.

Year 3 have continued with their sculptures this week. Today, we have covered the armatures with clay. We worked hard to ensure they were balanced and could stand up. We also used smoothing techniques to smooth over any joins so they don’t crack as they dry. Next week we will be painting them.

Year 3 have been learning about length and perimeter. To end the unit, Mrs Stephenson gave Class 10 a tricky problem solving challenge. All children were provided with a rectangular piece of card and provided with the perimeter of the card. Their challenge was to increase the perimeter without adding extra card. The children were brilliant in working out that they needed to cut the card and make more sides as this would increase the perimeter.

Today, we made cheese scones. The children found it touch to bring their dough together into a ball as it took a lot of hard work but the persevered and they looked delicious.

We did quizzes, investigated division and had a fun time looking at numbers-we were amazing!
In Year 3, we are continuing tour sculpture topic in our art lessons. Today, we used wires to create strong armatures. We then covered them in foil so they looked similar to those created by Giacometti.

The groups changed this week so we made short bread again this week with different children. They worked brilliantly with a partner to create some delicious biscuits.

On Friday 6th February, we will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day in school. Children can come to school dressed either as something number related or as a Times Table Rock star! Please see some DIY fancy dress ideas below as you really don’t need to buy anything new!
The children will take part in fun number related activities and competitions throughout the day. Friday enrichment clubs will still go ahead as usual therefore if your child usually takes part in a sport related activity on a Friday afternoon, they will still require their PE kit.
