Year 1-Caring for Others

This week we have been exploring the theme of caring for others through stories and practices from a range of religious and cultural traditions. We have talked about selflessness and compassion through the story of The Monkey King (Buddhism), and reflected on the meaning of kindness to strangers in The Good Samaritan (Christianity). We have discovered how sharing and equality are expressed in Sikhism through the Langar meal, and how generosity and hospitality are encouraged in Islam through the Be My Guest initiative. Through discussion, storytelling, and creative activities, children have been encouraged to think about how they can care for others in their own lives and communities.
