Year 4 Outdoor Learning

We have loved learning about William Morris this term and his use of repeating patterns in art and textiles. We created some fantastic art work of our own and then went outside to see what repeating patterns we could create using natural resources. Take a look at us in action!


Year 4 love fencing!

Year 4 were lucky enough to have extra P.E and enjoyed a fencing taster session. The children loved practicing the moves and trying on the guards.


Year 4 visit St Peter’s Church

We have loved learning about the Anglo-Saxons in History this term. We have learnt how the North East of England was very important during these times and how St Peter’s Church is the oldest Anglo-Saxon church in England. We enjoyed exploring the church learning about it’s history especially seeing the red stones that changed colour after a fire following the invasion of the Vikings.

Year 4 make classification keys

This week in Science we have been designing our own classification keys to classify minibeasts based on their characteristics and features. We used our knowledge of mini beasts from our mini beast hunt to help us. We really enjoyed grouping minibeasts together identifying different and similar characteristics. Year 4 explore living things

This week year 4 became explorers and went out into our school grounds to look for living things. First we had to recap the seven life processes and discussed the difference between vertebrate and invertebrate. Year 4 make bread like Anglo-Saxons

This term in History we are learning all about the Anglo-Saxons. We have been exploring what village life would have been like and discussing the types of food they would eat and how they would source their food. Year 4 – Active Festival

Some of the children in Year 4 attended the Silksworth Sports Complex active festival this week. The children had a fantastic time learning some new skills along with other schools across Sunderland. The children played games such as dodgeball, practiced their archery skills and even tried out some cheerleading poses. A great morning had by all.

In Year 4 this term we are learning about the place value of numbers to 10,000. We have loved exploring four digit numbers and used the resources in our Maths area to represent these.
