We’re so proud of how well the children have settled into school during their first full week. They’ve come in each day with big smiles, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity. It’s been lovely to see them making new friends, getting used to routines, and joining in with all the different activities. The way they’ve listened, helped each other, and tried their best has really impressed us. It’s been a fantastic start, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow and enjoy their learning journey.
Here are some of the photographs of the things we have been doing – we hope you enjoy seeing just a little snapshot of their wonderful first week!

As part of our first week, we have been exploring Owl Babies as our core text. The children have really enjoyed getting to know the story and talking about the characters and their feelings. We have acted out the story together, with lots of expression and imagination – it was wonderful to see the children getting so involved! They’ve also been busy with creative activities, including making their own owl decorations and creating owl-themed crafts. These activities have helped the children feel more confident in expressing themselves while also building their early language and storytelling skills.

This week, the children took part in their very first Forest School session – and they absolutely loved it! Forest School is a special part of our curriculum that takes place every Thursday. It gives the children the chance to explore nature, build confidence, and learn new skills through outdoor play and hands-on activities in a natural environment.
For our first session, we linked our learning to our core text Owl Babies by working together to build a home for an owl baby. The children used sticks, leaves, and other natural materials to create cosy little nests, thinking carefully about what would keep the owl safe and warm. It was a brilliant way to encourage teamwork, creativity, and a love of the outdoors. We can’t wait for our next session!
