Halloween and Financial literacy

🎃 Halloween Fun in Reception! 👻

What a spook-tacular end we’ve had in Reception!

As part of our Halloween fun, we also learned a little about financial literacy. The children loved visiting our spooky Halloween shop, choosing what to buy with their coins. There were pumpkins, spiders, and plenty of tasty treats to tempt them! Most of the children decided to spend all their money straight away, which led to a great chat about why it can be a good idea to save some for later. Once the shop was restocked, poor Mrs Skipp had to bravely eat all the leftover sweets herself — just to help out, of course! 🍬🎃 It was a fun (and delicious) way to start learning about making choices, spending wisely, and thinking ahead.

The children also came to school dressed as witches, pumpkins, skeletons, and even a few superheroes who must have taken a wrong turn on their way to save the world! We had a brilliant Halloween party, danced to some spooky songs, and enjoyed a few tasty treats (the ghosts told us they were calorie-free!).

The children loved getting into character. Noah said, “I’m not me today, I’m a scary pumpkin!” while Valencia proudly told us, “My costume has sparkles AND my tights have spider webs!”

It was a day full of laughter, excitement, and just the right amount of spookiness. It was a perfect way to celebrate together before we start our next adventure in Reception!

Have a lovely half term everyone…

We hope you get plenty of treats and not too many tricks! 👻🕷️🎃🎃🕸️
