Year 3 – Shell structures
Year 3 began their ‘Shell structures’ DT project. Over the course of the half term, we will be designing and creating our very own packaging to hold an Easter crispie cake. We will also be writing persuasive adverts for our cakes in our English lessons.
We began by looking at a variety of different packaging and thinking about what information is held on different types of packaging. This will help us to understand what information must be included on our own packaging.
We also looked at how packaging is put together. We carefully opened a range of different boxes to look at the nets. Some of us thought that the boxes were made of multiple pieces of card and not just one piece!
We also had the chance to use nets to make our own boxes of different shapes and sizes.
Year 5 Tag Rugby…
Our first tag rugby lesson was amazing! We learned about passing, catching and dodging-we were amazing!
Year 4 become mummies!
In History this term we have been learning about Ancient Egyptians, and have loved learning about the mummification process. To recap our learning today we had to act out the process of removing the brain through nostrils, taking out the organs and placing them in canopic jars and finally wrapping the body in linen! We loved demonstrating our knowledge, although we may need some
Year 3 – Sculpture
Year 3 completed their Giacometti inspired sculptures this week. We painted them in metallic colours and evaluated them. We thought hard about what we enjoyed the most about creating the sculptures and also what we found the most difficult.
Year 3 become pollinators!
Today, we explored pollination and what it actually means. We took on the role of the insects, the pollinators and we dipped our fingers in paint (to represent the pollen). We then walked around the room landing on the different flowers (putting our painted fingertips on the flowers) to represent the insects moving from flower to flower. In the end, we could see that as we landed on a flower, we actually picked up bits of pollen (other colours of paint) from other insects (children).
Enrichment – Cookery club
Group 3 had their cookery session with Mrs Stephenson today and they made shortbread biscuits. They were great at mixing the dough and rolling it out carefully.
Year 6 Parent Workshop…
We had a great time today colouring, playing and making-thank you for coming to work with us!
Year 5 Parent Workshop…
We had a great time being mindful with you all yesterday and it was lovely to see so many of you there-we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Year 5 Mindfulness…
We designed and coloured our own patterns today, with the lights out, in silence and kept our minds in the present too-it was very relaxing!
