This week is British Science Week and the theme is ‘Curiosity – What is your question?’ The children thought hard about different questions they would like to answer and we carried out a variety of investigations.
‘Does the appearance of food affect the taste of the food?’
We tasted 4 different coloured yoghurts; white, red, yellow and green. (Our teachers had sneakily added food colouring to plain yoghurt!) We predicted before tasting what flavour we thought the yoghurt may be. We then tasted each different yoghurt and recorded what flavour we thought we had tasted. We found that the colour of the yoghurt heavily influenced our decisions.

‘Do taller people run faster than shorter people?’
We made predictions about who would win a race depending on their height. We then carried out the races and recorded our findings. We found that height did not impact speed consistently.

‘Do taller people jump further than shorter people?’
We predicted how far people would be able to jump depending on their height. We then jumped and recorded the distance. We found that height did not consistently affect the length of the jump.

‘Are finger prints really unique?’
We used pencil lead, Sellotape and paper to create our own finger prints. We then analysed them for the different shapes we could see. We found it fascinating that no one else in the world would have the same finger prints as us!
