This week, we have been exploring why Christians celebrate Easter. We have looked closely at the Easter story and learned about its importance in the Christian faith. We have also discussed the different ways people celebrate Easter, including traditions such as the Easter Bunny, chocolate eggs, and spending time with family. These conversations helped us understand both the religious meaning of Easter and the fun traditions many people enjoy 🐰
In RE, we explored a range of Easter artefacts and discussed why they are important. We looked at items such as the cross, which represents Jesus’ sacrifice, and the Bible, which tells the Easter story. This helped deepen our understanding of the meaning behind Easter and why it is such a significant celebration for Christians.

In Geography, we learned about how Easter is celebrated in different countries around the world. We discovered that in Australia, people celebrate with the Easter Bilby instead of the Easter Bunny. In Greece, celebrations include red fireworks and decorating eggs red, while in Finland, children dress up as witches and receive sweets and chocolate in baskets. This helped us understand the similarities and differences between how we celebrate Easter and how it is celebrated in other cultures.
We also enjoyed taking part in some exciting Easter activities in school. We brought in our Easter egg competition entries and went down to the hall to admire everyone’s creative designs – there were some amazing efforts! 🥚

We have also had so much in our classroom this week making Easter dough cakes, egg crafts and much more!

To finish the week, we had great fun taking part in an Easter egg hunt and joining in with our Easter assembly for grown-ups, which was a lovely way to celebrate everything we have learned.
