Year 4

In Year 4 we are taught by Mrs Woodey, Mrs Barker and Miss Stronach and we are supported by Miss Stoker and Miss Bilton. We are available every morning and evening on the gate if you need anything at all-we can’t wait to work with you and your children so please don’t hesitate to ask us anything.

Summer Term

This term, we cannot wait to welcome the children into Year 4 and we have lots of exciting and engaging lessons planned. In science we will be learning about states of matter! We be learning about solids, liquids and gases and how these can change state. We will also be conducting investigations using thermometers, experimenting how quick chocolate melts in different settings and creating our own water cycle!

Our history topic is a study on local history of shipbuilding in Sunderland. We will be exploring the timeline of the shipyards in Sunderland, the types of ships that were built and creating a fact file on the shipyards. We will also be visited by a local man who worked in the shipyards to share his experiences and will be going on a local river walk to identify the differences between the past and present.

Our Art topic this term is Heather Galler. We will be looking at her folk artist style with a focus on landscapes and creating our own work in the style of Heather Galler before recreating this using digital art.
