Years 3 & 4

Hello and welcome to years 3 and 4!

In year 3 we are taught by Mrs Stephenson, Mrs Mahone and Mrs Foxton. We are supported in class by Miss Bewick.

In year 4 we are taught by Mrs Smith, Mrs Seaman, Mrs Waddell and Mrs Moran.
We are supported by Mr Scott, Miss Bilton and Mrs Williams.

We have lots of exciting and enriching topics planned this term; year 3 will be exploring fossils and rocks and diving into the Savage Stone Age, making their own tools and lighting fires to cook like real Stone Age people!

Year 4 are looking at Amazing Africa- from music and dance to habitats and climate zones; we will look at apartheid and the role Nelson Mandela played to stop the segregation. Both year groups are so excited!

We would like to say a huge welcome to parents whose children have not been in our care before and welcome back to those parents who know us. We would like to thank you for your support and remind you we have an open door policy and are available before and after school if you would like to discuss anything.

Look what we’ve been up to.

Homework and Spellings

All children have a grid with suggested homework activities and should look to complete 1 per week. I addition, children will have 1 piece of spelling homework on a Monday to be tested at the end of the same week. All children are expected to practise their times tables using Times Tables Rockstars-all children have been given their username and password.

 Year 4 Homework Autumn 2020

This term we are sending homework for children to choose their own tasks alongside spellings and/or maths homework.  Learn your spellings-given out on a Monday- ready for your test on a Friday.  The table below shows you the choices of homework you have to complete over the autumn term.  All pieces must be completed by Friday 11th December and a minimum of 1 piece per week.
Each piece of homework will work on a points system – given when returned to school.  In December, the points for each child will be totaled and prizes will be given out for the top 3 scores per class.

Year 4 Autumn Homework Grid

In addition to this homework you MUST continue to practise your times tables every night and use Times Tables Rock Stars regularly.  Your challenge is to complete 15 games a week!  Spellings will still be given out ready for spelling tests on a Friday and please continue to read your home reader as many times as you can with an adult.   Additional points may be given out for these tasks too!

Home Reading

As a school, we expect the children to read at least 3 times per week and have their journal signed by an adult. Children should bring their reading book and journal into school daily so they have the opportunity to read with adults in school.

Children have an Accelerated Reader password and user name. Use this link to access the quizzes!
